Gunotsav, an initiative aimed at improving the quality of education, was conducted in two phases in the State in January with the third one slated in the first week of February. While the first phase was held between January 6-9, the second phase was from January 17-22.
Government / provincialized schools, Adarsha Vidyalayas, Tea Garden Adarsha Vidyalayas, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Residential Schools, and Tea Garden Management Schools are covered under Gunotsav.
Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu in his social media handle informed the media that the total number of schools participating in the first phase was 15,072 (99.98%) and the total number of students assessed stood at 13,31,997 (98.08%). In the second phase, a total of 15,650 (99.92%) schools and 13,84,066 (97.82%) students participated.
Cabinet Minister Atul Bora who was external evaluator of a school in Kamrup (M) posted on X, “‘Gunotsav’ has significantly contributed to evaluating and improving the quality of public schools in Assam. It provides an excellent platform for schools to showcase their strengths while addressing areas that need improvement. Through this initiative, the schools have been playing a leading role in promoting academic excellence as well as creating a healthy academic environment.”
