The inaugural ceremony of the newly constructed campus of Bhattadev University at Medhikuchi in Bajali was headlined by the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. The development marks a significant milestone in the educational history of the Bajali region.
Built at a cost of ₹53 crore, the new campus comprises a modern administrative block, three academic buildings equipped with advanced laboratories, residential facilities for the Vice-Chancellor and other officials, and a cafeteria for students and staff. These state-of-the-art amenities are expected to substantially strengthen the University’s academic and administrative capabilities.
Established in 2017 by upgrading Bajali College and named after Bhattadev, regarded as the father of Assamese prose literature, the State University has already emerged as an important centre of higher education in the region. The new campus is set to provide a conducive learning and research environment for students, faculty members, and scholars alike.
At the inauguration, the Chief Minister announced an additional grant of ₹64 crore for the University’s second phase of construction, reiterating the State government’s unwavering commitment to strengthening the education sector.
