When it comes to matters of development, we often have two things in mind: Our immediate family and the larger family, the society. For a society to develop, works done by the Government has to be complimented by efforts of the society. Just like a cricket team, where the captain is as good as his team, the country or the government is as good as its people, i.e. those who are aware and conscious of what is happening around them.
The work done by the Government in Assam since 2016, especially the last one year, for betterment of women, children, elderly, youths and the weaker sections of the society has been noteworthy.
It seems that the Union and the State governments are working in sync with a vision of improving the living conditions of people in both rural and urban areas. This is visible in their endeavours. Road connectivity, housing, sanitation are areas where development is visible. Another major change has been a zero tolerance towards corruption and the massive fight against drugs.
We have begun well and have a long way to go to be among the most developed States in India. However, we the people of Assam have what it takes and a visionary leader like Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma to guide us towards a golden era of development and progress.
I also appeal to the people of our State to contribute their part in this endeavour.
