The infrastructure push the Kaziranga corridor will give to the State is an unprecedented one. The four-laning of the highways was one such project that had people talking about it, and the result is for all of us to see. Travel has become smoother, faster and with very few irritants. A journey that used to have question marks much before it started has become a memorable experience now. Not only it saves fuel, and is economical, but it has given a major push to trade, commerce and tourism.
This is but one example of a Government’s vision that has built the entire development paradigm across infrastructure in this term. The other projects that have sprung up in Guwahati, Dibrugarh, and other towns are all pointing a rosy picture. With infrastructure comes investment. No wonder, the last three years has seen investments from not only local entrepreneurs but also joint ventures, partnerships and standalone investment by major industrial groups, hospitality being a standout sector.
The participation of Assam Chief Minister in Davos at the World Economic Forum must be seen in that light. With the State being at the centre stage of the growth story in the country, it is high time that the State scouts for big ticket investment and investors for employment-generating industries
