Marking a significant milestone in the overall development journey of Dibrugarh district, foundation stones were laid and several key projects were inaugurated recently, ushering in a new phase of growth. The foundation stone for the modern Tingkhong Sub-Divisional Commissioner’s Office building, and the inauguration of multiple infrastructure projects, once completed, are expected to make the district’s administrative system more efficient, people-centric, and dynamic. The programme was graced by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as the chief guest.
During the event, more than 23,000 eligible women from the Tingkhong Assembly constituency of Dibrugarh district received ₹10,000 each as seed capital under the Chief Minister’s Women Entrepreneurship Mission, aimed at strengthening self-help groups and promoting women-led enterprises.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said, “We are continuously striving to move away from the mindset that sees women only as homemakers and instead include them as equal partners in New Assam’s journey towards self-reliance.”
As part of the Asom Mala 3.0 initiative, the foundation stone was laid for the upgrading and widening of a 9.3-km stretch of the Moran–Nitai road, to be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹36.92 cr. Additionally, the Tingkhong Sub-Divisional Commissioner’s Office building will be constructed at a cost of ₹19.50 cr, while a new Moran Police Station building will come up under the Maitri Scheme with an expenditure of ₹2.15 cr.
The programme also saw the inauguration of the Abhayapur Rural Sports Complex at Moran, built at a cost of ₹12.32 cr, aimed at promoting sports and youth engagement in the region.
Tingkhong MLA Bimal Bora shared this on social media: “All these development initiatives will not only strengthen the infrastructure of Tingkhong and the surrounding areas but will also provide fresh momentum to social, economic, and administrative development. These visionary steps of the State Government have laid a strong foundation for building a developed Assam.”
