As a tribute to the great social warrior, Late Birubala Rabha, Govt of Assam will commemorate her Death Anniversary on May 13 as ‘Day Against Superstitious Beliefs’ every year
Continuing with the Govt’s efforts to ensure food security to the people of Assam, 15 lakh additional beneficiaries will be issued new Ration Cards
To enable faster recognition of Charaideo Maidam as a World Heritage Site, Govt of Assam will get in touch with Ambassadors of all member countries of UNESCO through the Ministry of External Affairs to get support from the member countries
A Delimitation exercise will be carried out for all Development Blocks across the State including delimitation of Ward/ AP/ GP/ ZP. This delimitation exercise will be completed within August 2024 following which the Panchayat elections will be held in November this year
A Cabinet Sub-Committee has been set up to oversee saturation of beneficiaries under the flagship Orunodoi Scheme, fulfilling a key poll promise. The Committee will submit its report within one month
Grant of ₹1 lakh under Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijaan will be distributed to 30,000 young entrepreneurs in September this year
To promote the legacy of Lachit Barphukan across the nation, Cabinet has accorded approval to production of a 52-episode documentary on the brave general, to be jointly produced by the Govt of Assam and Prasar Bharati and broadcasted on different channels of Akashvani and Doordarshan and its various digital platforms
To optimise execution of various ongoing water supply projects, Cabinet has accorded approval for integration of Assam Urban Infrastructure Investment Program (AUIIP) with Guwahati Jal Board/Guwahati Metropolitan Drinking Water & Sewerage Board
To boost infrastructure in the State, Cabinet has accorded approval to raise a loan of ₹634.35cr from NABARD for executing projects under various departments. The loan amount will be raised for projects worth ₹704.84cr sanctioned under NIDA

In a push to increase enrolment of girl students in higher education, the Cabinet has accorded approval to provide financial assistance to girl students under the Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina scheme to be offered as Admission Assistance
Girl students enrolled in Higher Secondary, Degree First Year and PG First Year of Government and Venture Schools, Colleges and Universities irrespective of their economic status are eligible for this scheme
From this academic year, both Boys and Girls who score more than 75% marks will receive ₹10,000 as a one-time financial grant under the Anundoram Borooah Scheme
From next academic year, scooters will be distributed to both boy and girl students who secure more than 75% marks
To facilitate collection of real-time hydrological data for effective water resource planning and flood forecasting in critical river basins of the State, Cabinet has accorded approval to Guidelines for Installation and Maintenance of Real-Time Data Acquisition Systems (RTDAS), 2024
To ensure all-weather connectivity in tea gardens, Cabinet has accorded approval to construct Line Roads in 800 Tea Gardens
Each Line Road will be constructed at a cost of ₹1cr and a total cost of ₹800cr has been approved
To enhance quality of infrastructure in State-run educational institutions, Cabinet has accorded approval to upgrade 126 schools, with allocation of ₹8cr to each school

To rationalise resource utilisation and strengthen democratic representation at the grassroots, Cabinet has accorded approval to the Proposal for Reorganisation of Development Blocks and Delimitation of Gaon Panchayats, Anchalik Panchayats and Zilla Parishads in Assam
To allay the apprehensions of the business community regarding notices served under GST, Cabinet has requested Hon’ble Ministers Smt. Ajanta Neog and Shri Ashok Singhal to hold 6 Regional Consultations
The consultations will be held in Tinsukia, Sivasagar, Jorhat, Guwahati, Tezpur and Silchar and a report will be submitted within one month
To encourage upcoming sporting talent and to carry forward the success of the Khel Maharan movement, Cabinet has accorded approval to an SOP for providing assistance to one Youth Club/Sports Association in each of the 126 Legislative Assembly Constituencies (LACS)

Taking note of the requirement of experienced teachers in Govt schools, the Cabinet has accorded approval to a Special Recruitment Drive for contractual teachers of SSA and State Pool teachers as regular teachers
With a view to reduce undue burden of the citizens, the Cabinet has advised the Transport Department to not levy any fine on two wheelers in absence of documents like licence, PUC, registration, etc. Not wearing of helmets will continue to attract fines
In all such cases, legal action will be initiated as the normal course of action, removing the fine component as a form of penalty
In case of three-wheel vehicles like auto-rickshaws, e-rickshaws etc, 4 (four) warnings will be given for rule violations, post which fine will be levied
In view of concerns received from various quarters on bidding high prices for settlement of Markets/ Bazaar/Haats/Ghats etc and this resulting in higher rate of collection from the traders & public, the State Cabinet has decided to cancel the tenders for all the Markets/Bazaars / Haats / Ghats etc. which were floated by the Zila Parishads, Anchalik Panchayats & Gaon Panchayats
To ensure safety and security of workers working under Private Placement agencies, the State Cabinet has accorded approval to the Assam Private Placement Agencies for Recruitment of Workers’ (Regulation) Rules, 2024
To ensure clean and safe drinking water facilities in urban areas of Karimganj Town and Hailakandi Town, the Cabinet has accorded approval to
Hailakandi Town Water Supply Scheme worth ₹72.74 crore which will provide 135 litres per capita per day at consumers’ tap points to an estimated population of 60,425 by the year 2055
Karimganj Town Water Supply Scheme worth ₹81.18 crore which will provide 135 litres per capita per day at consumers’ tap points to an estimated population of 1,01,430 by the year 2055
To ensure protection of witnesses against imminent threats during the course of the investigation and trial of any cases, the State Cabinet has accorded approval to the Assam Witness Protection Scheme, 2024 to ensure adherence to Section 398 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023
