The Government of Assam distributed appointment letters to several thousand individuals in the Education Department in the month of November.
On November 9, appointment letters were handed over to 5,500 TET-qualified candidates, including 3,800 teachers for lower primary schools and 1,750 teachers for upper primary schools.
Subsequently, on November 13, 8,800 candidates received appointment letters. This included 263 assistant professors and 110 Grade-III employees under the Directorate of Higher Education and 6,522 graduate teachers as well as 1,275 postgraduate teachers under the Directorate of Secondary Education.
Additionally, 36 candidates were appointed under the Directorate of State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).
Besides, 377 TET and recruitment-exam qualified candidates belonging to the Tea Tribe and Adivasi communities were also given appointment letters.
With these latest recruitments, the total number of appointments made in the State since the present Government came to power has risen to 1,35,376.
Olympia Kalita from Tezpur, who secured a new teaching position, said, “A clean and transparent recruitment process has given us confidence. We received our jobs without paying a single rupee. I thank Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for ensuring this fairness.”
Sagarika Saikia, appointed as a graduate teacher, shared, “We have secured these jobs purely on merit and eligibility. Our trust in the Government system has strengthened manifold.”
It is to be mentioned here that a 3% reservation has been made for members of the tea tribe community in Government jobs. Expressing happiness after being appointed as a primary school teacher under this quota, Rajiv Gowala of Biswanath said, “I am grateful for this step that encourages the Tea Tribe community to pursue education and progress.”
Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, in his address, at the programme in —— said, “During the appointments for the tea garden community, a few cases of forged certificates were detected. We have therefore decided to adopt a special policy to ensure that only genuine youth from tea garden families can avail the benefits.”
