Addressing the gathering of successful candidates and their family members at the Veterinary College Playground at Khanapara in Guwahati, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma termed May 25, 2023 a momentous occasion not only for the selected candidates but personally for him as well. He said that this latest round of appointment has taken his Government nearer to fulfilling their pre-election promise of providing one lakh Government jobs to the people of Assam.
Dr. Sarma said he himself wasn’t sure about the possibility of fulfilling that promise when it was made but the faith the people of Assam reposed on the Bharatiya Janata Party-led regime kept him motivated towards fulfilling it. “Had it not been for the pandemic scenario posed by the Covid-19 crisis, the 1-lakh recruitment target would have been reached by now,” the Chief Minister added.
He exuded confidence that the remaining recruitments needed to cross the 1-lakh mark would be completed within a short span of time, as the Government is in the process of issuing advertisement for filling up 22,000 vacant positions.
The Chief Minister said that recruitments under his Government have been made in a fair and transparent manner while stating that nepotism and corruption in recruitments are a thing of the past.
Dr. Sarma appealed to the successful candidates to remain motivated and work with dedication so that Assam can be transformed into one of the most progressive States on all fronts in the next two to three decades. He urged the newly appointed personnel to play a major role in realising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of projecting the status of the nation to that of a world leader by the 100th year of its Independence.
Referring to the process of nation-building as a collective responsibility, the Chief Minister appealed to the new recruits to make best use of their period in service.
The Chief Minister also appealed to the youths of the State to tread the path of entrepreneurship. “Relying on Government jobs alone would bring stagnancy in the State’s forward march. Along with being job-seekers, youths of the State must aspire to be job-creators as well,” the Chief Minister remarked. He said that peace and harmony achieved in the State in the last two years has contributed immensely in creating an ecosystem for entrepreneurship.
Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly Biswajit Daimary, Union Minister of State for Petroleum & Natural Gas Rameswar Teli, along with the ministers of the Assam Cabinet and Chief Executives of the three autonomous councils were also present in the meeting.
