Panchayat & Rural Developement
Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on August 21 distributed 6,670 scooters to Bank Sakhis, Bima Sakhis, Jeevika Sakhis, etc., under the Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission’s Sakhi Express Scheme for FY 2021-22 at the Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra Auditorium. He expressed his hope that sakhis would use these scooters in spreading the message of financial empowerment among women.
Also present on the occasion were P&RD Minister Ranjit Kumar Dass, Guwahati MP Queen Oja, and Dispur MLA Atul Bora, et al.
Finance
Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma launched Orunodoi Month during which the list of beneficiaries will be rectified. Beneficiaries will start receiving Orunodoi benefits at an enhanced rate of ₹ 1,250 from October 10. The flagship scheme has benefited 20 lakh women in whose accounts ₹ 1,000 is credited every month.
Education
The fourth phase of Gunotsav-2022 ended successfully on August 6. It began on August 3 in five districts of Assam namely, Cachar, Dima Hasao, Hailakandi, Hojai and South Salmara Mankachar, including some left out schools of Barpeta, Kamrup, Lakhimpur and Morigaon districts. A total of 5,20,175 students from Classes I to IX of 6,044 schools participated in the evaluation process.
