Governor of Assam, Gulab Chand Kataria, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, ministers of his Cabinet and senior officials visited three key national monuments in the national capital, built by the Narendra Modi-led Government, on March 19.
In the wee hours, they visited the National War Memorial and paid homage to those brave hearts who laid down their lives defending the unity and territorial integrity of the country.
The Governor and the Chief Minister laid floral wreaths at the war column – Amar Jawan.
Later, they went round the sprawling complex where the names of the martyrs are inscribed in the Wall of Valour and paid tributes to them.
Paying tribute to the brave hearts who laid down their lives for safeguarding the territorial integrity of the nation, the Chief Minister said that the War Memorial would continue to inspire and motivate the present and future generations to make sacrifices for the sake of the motherland.
The Chief Minister later tweeted, “The iconic War Memorial is a fine tribute to the valor of our war heroes. We’re forever indebted to their supreme sacrifice and dedication that earned us our pride.
The Governor and the Chief Minister penned down their noting in the visitor’s book.
It was followed by a visit to the National Police Memorial at Chanakyapuri where they paid tributes to the police personnel for their supreme sacrifice for safeguarding the territorial integrity of the nation.
Later, the dignitaries and officials went round different sections of the National Police Museum.
Taking to twitter handle, the Chief Minister said, “The National Police Memorial in New Delhi is a fine ode to the valiant police personnel. Our eternal gratitude to their valor.”
The Assam delegation then visited the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya and saw rare exhibits on display of all Prime Ministers of the country for almost two hours.
Taking to his twitter handle, the Chief Minister said, “We owe immensely to our esteemed Prime Ministers who worked with great vigor to take Bharat to greater heights. We so fondly cherish and celebrate all the great leaders who tirelessly worked for the glory of India.”
Following the visits to the national monuments, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a tweet, appreciated the ‘great gesture’ by the Governor, Chief Minister and ministers of the Government of Assam. Mr Modi tweeted, “A great gesture by the Assam Governor @Gulab_kataria Ji, CM @himantabiswa Ji and Ministers of the Assam Government to visit three iconic places in Delhi – the National War Memorial, National Police Memorial and PM Sangrahalaya.”
Replying to the Prime Minister’s tweet, the Chief Minister responded, “Adarniya Pradhan Mantri ji, these iconic sites are a pilgrimage to learn, see & experience about the immense sacrifices of Bharat’s brave men & women. A must see for every Indian!
We are blessed that all these memorials have been brought to life under your statesmanly leadership.”
It may be mentioned that the decision to visit the iconic landmarks in the national capital was taken at a Cabinet meeting held on January 23 this year.
