District Level Internal Examination Committee of Dibrugarh District has published a Student Guidebook to assist prospective examinees to crack the examinations in the best possible way. This has been done keeping in view a recent directive by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam that 50% questions on subjects like Mathematics, Science, Social Science and English set to be in objective forms in the forthcoming examination. The guidebook is focusing on these above mentioned subjects.
The committee that worked behind-the-scene consisted of its president and the then Dibrugarh School Inspector Dipika Choudhury, vice president and Seba’s regional secretary and also the District Programme Officer of Samagra Shiksha, Dibrugarh Dipankar Dutta, Secretary of the committee Udoy Shankar Gogoi, who is also the Assistant Head Master of Tengakhat Girls’ High School, assistant secretary and Chabua Tea Garden Model School, Principal (in-charge), Anjan Konwar, assistant secretary and Chachaji High School Head Master Sew Kumar Sahu.
The objective of the initiative is to improve the overall HSLC results and at the same time contribute to a better understanding of the subject and its content among the students. Talking to Asom Barta, Dutta said, “This student guidebook is a result of a meeting we had with the executive committee. Based on this, we had discussion with students, and teachers. They supported this idea. In the same way, we spoke to teachers of various institutions in the district and based on their support, we came out with this guidebook.”
Gogoi told this correspondent over phone, “This is being published in two languages: English and Assamese. The guidebook will be distributed free of cost to students of the district. We have reports that students are appreciating the initiative. We printed it despite limited time because we had support from all quarters.”
Tengakhat Girls’ High School student Namrata Gogoi, who is an HSLC aspirant this academic session, said, “This guidebook has helped me a lot. The answers here are in brief. I am reading it regularly these days. It has helped me understand the topic easily.”
