Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah on his two day visit in the last week of August inaugurated the Brahmaputra Wing at Raj Bhavan in Guwahati. He also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of eight projects worth ₹322 crore through the virtual mode.
The Brahmaputra wing of the Raj Niwas, built at a cost of more than ₹40 crore and in an area of more than 3300 square metres, will have facilities to run many constitutional activities smoothly. This facility will act as a place for acknowledging students, artistes, and researchers from various disciplines. Further, through a meaningful dialogue, the Governor will also make the Assam Government aware of public sentiments,” Shah asserted.
While addressing a gathering on the occasion, the Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, said, “Despite enduring various ups and downs and violent conflicts, the North East is now progressing towards peace, development, and comprehensive growth. The North East is home to one of the world’s oldest and most diverse cultures. The art, languages, cuisine, attire, music, and natural beauty of this region make the entire North East uniquely remarkable on the global stage.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the North East has witnessed unprecedented development over the past 11 years. Whenever the history of the North East is written, these 11 years of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s governance will be inscribed in golden letters,” he stated, adding, “ the Modi Government has repealed the three old criminal laws established by the British and introduced three new Indian laws for the criminal justice system. These new laws place significant emphasis on police investigations based on Forensic Science Laboratories (FSL).”
The Union Home Minister further pointed out that cyber security is extremely important for citizens and therefore the Government of India established the first National Cyber Forensic Laboratory (NCFL) in Delhi in 2019, which greatly helped citizens’ to protect hard-earned money from cybercriminals.
According to the Union Home Minister, the second NCFL has been established in Guwahati which will safeguard the earnings of citizens across all the eight North Eastern States, “The institute will also prove instrumental in strengthening national security by countering those who use the dark net for narcotics, arms smuggling, and attempts to infiltrate by exploiting gaps in India’s borders.”
Shah said that through the NCFL, established at the Lachit Barphukan Police Academy, policemen from all the eight States of the North East will work 24 hours a day to protect the country’s borders, help in the fight against narcotics and illegal smuggling and secure the earnings of citizens, “A number of facilities have also been launched for the soldiers of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) who protect our borders.”
Participating at the birth centenary celebration of former Chief Minister Golap Borbora, Shah posted in X, “A legendary figure and a people’s leader Late Golap Borbora ji was the first non-Congress Chief Minister of the State who, with his vision, proved what a patriotic Indian can achieve for the nation when they are elected to a constitutional office. Borbora ji set the standards for the future leaders in public life with his humility and honesty and epoch-making reforms in governance and education.”
Meanwhile, the Union Home Minister also reviewed the progress of East India’s largest auditorium the Jyoti-Bishnu Auditorium and shared his feedback on how to position it as a hub of various activities.
