The Prime Minister inaugurated the four-laning of national highway from Biswanath Chariali to Gohpur, built at a cost of ₹1,451 cr and the four-laning of national highway from Dolabari to Jamuguri that was built for ₹592 cr.
These apart, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stones of the ₹498-cr Maa Kamakhya Access Corridor (Divyalok Pariyojana), which has been sanctioned under the Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North Eastern Region (PM-DevINE) scheme. It will provide world-class amenities to pilgrims visiting the Kamakhya temple.
The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of multiple road upgradation projects worth over ₹3,444 cr under Asom Mala 2.0, under which 43 roads, including 38 bridges will be upgraded as part of the South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) Corridor Connectivity.
PM Modi also laid the foundation stone of a Unity Mall at a cost of ₹297 cr and the widening of road connecting Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport to be built at a cost of ₹358 cr.
To harness the tremendous sports potential of the region, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of projects to boost the sports infrastructure in the State. This includes the upgrade of Nehru Sports Stadium into a FIFA-Standard Football Stadium at a project cost of ₹831 cr and the construction of a state-of-the-art Stadium at Chandrapur to be built at a cost of ₹300 cr.
The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for the development of infrastructure of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. Further, the foundation stone for the development of a medical college at Karimganj was also laid by him. The cost of GMCH infrastructure development project is ₹3,250 cr and the construction of Karimganj Medical College will cost ₹578 cr.
