The development in Bodoland Territorial Region(BTR) of late, is the result of a peaceful though not always tranquil atmosphere. By and large, Bodoland has been making steady progress on social and economic indices, more so in recent times. This has been possible not only because of BTR administrators and its proactive policies but also because of the unrelenting support from the Government of Assam. However, in large measure the credit must go to the people of the BTR who have worked in unison with their elected representatives.
The Assam Chief Minister has also played his part, as has his Government. He has personally visited the region over 200 times in the last five years underscoring the importance of the region. Dispur has opened its coffers for BTR and has received reciprocity, irrespective of the ruling dispensation in Kokrajhar. No doubt, militancy has been dealt with sternly while the common people have been encouraged to find their calling. Tourism, agriculture, and infrastructure have received tremendous boost in the last four years. Now BTR can also look forward to the coming years with optimism because Assam and the Central Government is aiding Bhutan in its economic progress. A couple of mega projects coming up in Bhutan with support from the Central Government carry the potential of changing the economic landscape of BTR. It is important that people take advantage of the opportunity.
