Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on August 17 inaugurated and laid foundation stones of projects worth ₹ 286 cr for Jorhat district. Fulfilling a longstanding dream of residents of Jorhat district, Dr. Sarma inaugurated the newly built three-lane railway over-bridge at Na-Ali. This apart, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for a new connecting road to Rowriah Airport. He also distributed sanction letters to 22 tea estates aimed at developing the tea tourism sector. Chief Minister Dr. Sarma also launched as many as 60 rural water supply schemes under Jal Jeevan Mission.
Meanwhile, Dr Sarma on July 27 launched infrastructure projects worth as much as ₹ 555 cr for Bongaigaon district.
The Chief Minister inaugurated a bridge over the River Aie on the Borghola-Kirtanpara Road built at a cost of ₹ 69 cr. He also opened a conference hall-cum-convention centre built at an approximate cost of ₹ 17.94 cr, along with a couple of other projects.
On the other hand, projects for which foundation stones were laid were ₹ 417 cr development and improvement of the road from Jogigopha to Swahid Bedi Road under Asom Mala scheme, a mini stadium at Barshangaon, among others.
In his speech, he said that projects worth ₹ 15,000 cr have been undertaken across the State, of which around ₹ 693 cr is being invested in Bongaigaon district
