In a remarkable step to strengthen public healthcare service at the grassroots, the Assam Cabinet has increased the monthly fixed honorarium for ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers and ASHA supervisors, effective from October 1, 2025. The honorarium for ASHA workers will be increased from ₹3,000 to ₹4,000, while that of ASHA supervisors will rise from ₹9,000 to ₹10,200. Health and Family Welfare Minister, Ashok Singhal informing about the developments mentioned in X, “A new asha for our ASHA Baideus. In a significant decision, the Assam Cabinet led by Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has approved an increase in the fixed monthly honorarium for ASHA workers and their supervisors. This move will provide greater financial stability to our frontline health warriors and is a well-deserved recognition of their tireless service in every corner of Assam.” Earlier, the Government of Assam constituted a four-member Cabinet sub-committee with Finance Minister Ajanta Neog as the chairperson to look into the demands of a hike in remuneration wages and pay of ASHA workers, ASHA helpers, and mid-day meal workers. The other members of the Cabinet subcommittee are Health & Family Member Welfare and Irrigation Minister Ashok Singhal; Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu; and Pijush Hazarika the Minister for Water Resources, Information & Public Relations, and Social Justice & Empowerment Department, others.
