Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria recently unveiled four books at a special function held at the Lok Sewa Bhawan in Guwahati. They were Mukhyamantrir Baktrita Sankalon – 2, Mukhya Mantrir Diary – 2 and Odiya translation of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma’s collection of essays Anya Ek Drishtikon by Ajit Prasad Rout, namely, Anya Eka Drushti Kona, and Kiman Surakshita Jatir Bhabishat by Chief Minister’s Principal Press Secretary Dhruba Mahanta.
Sixty five selected speeches of the Chief Minister have been included in the second part of the Mukhyamantrir Baktrita Sankalon published by the Directorate of Public Relations of the Government of Assam. On the other hand, the Mukhya Mantrir Diary contains the chronicles of the second year of the Chief Minister’s tenure in office
Inaugurating the books, Governor Gulab Chand Kataria said, “For the first time in my 40 years of political career, I have had the privilege of releasing important books like a Chief Minister’s Diary. Congratulating the Chief Minister for establishing such a tradition, he said, “It is important whether the people’s representatives implemented the statement after delivering their speeches or not.”
In another context, he appreciated the financial support of the Government to universities of Assam.
Stating that the State can take pride in the ratio of boys to girls in Assam in terms of education. he said, “I am happy that as a Chief Minister of the State, you have involved children in education by taking initiatives like setting up model schools.’’ He lauded the Government and the Chief Minister for taking steps such as Amrit Brikshya Andolon for the environment. He also appreciated the steps taken by the Government towards the preservation and promotion of Assam’s history and art and culture besides establishing peace.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that since the Chief Minister’s speech is the statement of the Government. “Each word of such speeches expresses the policy, management, or opinion of the Government. Especially in the speeches delivered at the inauguration of a new scheme, the insights of the scheme are revealed, and such statements become special for later times.”
