Environment & Forest
A French delegation led by country director of Agence Française de Développement (AFD) India Bruno Bosle called on Minister of Environment & Forest Chandra Mohan Patowary at Janata Bhawan and discussed the status of project implementation in the sphere of biodiversity protection in Assam. Additional Chief Secretary of the Department Ravi Shankar Prasad, M K Yadava, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and Head of Forest Force, Pavan Kumar, the then PD, APFBC were also present during the meeting.
Housing and Urban Affairs
The State Government. has released ₹ 98.69 cr towards the long-standing dues of municipal employees of the State. This was tweeted by Department Minister Ashok Singhal who expects that the move is a much-needed relief to the employees & will encourage them to work with greater dedication.
Tourism
The Assam Government recently launched a new sustainable tourism policy in New Delhi aimed at attracting entrepreneurs and investors to the State. The Department also conducted the Assam Tourism Road Show in the national capital. The policy was launched by Jayanta Malla Baruah, Minister of Tourism, among others. The policy will facilitate on-the-job training to be provided by employers for local employees in hotels and resorts and aims to guarantee effective standardisation of processes and practices, to foster uniformity which can result in sustainability and an overall improvement in the quality of tourism products.
