Over the last five years, transformation in the Bodoland region has conspicuously improved the lives of people,” said Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma while unveiling “Bodoland Speaks: From Vision to Action” at an event organised by Bodoland Territorial Council under Bodoland Happiness Mission in Guwahati.
“In the last five years, there have been no bombs, no bullets, and no violence in Bodoland. This peace is the result of the Prime Minister’s relentless efforts since 2014,” Sarma said, while mentioning the crucial role of Bodoland Peace Accord for bringing lasting peace and development to the region.
“No one from Bodoland should feel that they are 2nd or 3rd class citizens, instead everyone should believe that they are 1st class citizens,” the Chief Minister asserted.
Sarma further recalled that in the past five years, he has made over 200 visits to BTR, “During every visit, I felt the problems of Bodoland and also closely witnessed the drastic transformation that took place in the region.”

According to Dr. Sarma when the Happiness Index among larger Bodo and other indigenous communities will go up, Bodoland will turn into a financial power house and it will become the most financially stable region of the State.
Peace is a means of development, “After establishing peace, in the next five years efforts will be made towards bringing harmony, prosperity and development in the region,” Sarma stated.
Realising the key demand of the All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU), the Chief Minister announced that the State Government will translate all official notifications into the Bodo language in the 13 Bodo-inhabited districts.

Meanwhile, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Pramod Boro said, “Decades after decades, Bodoland witnessed violence, killings, unrest, and many movements of different groups and communities. Our prayers and wishes were that transformation should happen in Bodoland.”

Post event, the Chief Minister while addressing the media, added, “BTR consists of almost 26 ethnic groups. After a prolonged period of turmoil, Bodoland, under the leadership of Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro, is now witnessing an unprecedented period of peace. Our aim should be to convert this peace to opportunities. To achieve this transformation, it is important that all ethnic groups enjoy absolute happiness in BTR and within the State of Assam.”
He lauded Bodoland Happiness Mission as a great step in keeping the milestone.
