Renowned Sattriya and Indian classical dance exponent Dr. Mallika Kandali and eminent artiste Narendra Nath Das have been honoured with the prestigious Bishnu Rabha Award 2025 by the Government of Assam, in recognition of their exceptional contributions to the field of arts.
Instituted in memory of the legendary cultural icon Bishnu Prasad Rabha, the award is one of Assam’s highest recognitions for contributions in the field of art and culture. Dr. Kandali’s & Nath’s names add to the list of illustrious recipients who have enriched the state’s cultural landscape.
As part of the event, Chief Minister also presented Sonit Konwar Gajen Barua Award to prominent sattriya exponent Sonaram Sarma Burhabhakat, Swargadeo Sarbananda Singha Award to Social worker Jajneswar Chetia, Sri Sri Madhavdev Award to sanskrit scholar Dr. Thaneswar Sharma, Kalicharan Brahma Award to poet Dhaneswar Engti, Bir Chilarai Award (posthumous) to late BSF constable Martyr Deepak Chingakham.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “The life and works of Rabha inspired every Assamese person. His songs and poems with a scent of soil continue to motivate the young generation even today.”
Chief Minister congratulated all the awardees and offered a solemn tribute to the late martyr.
