Come May 14, the Government of Assam will take a giant stride towards fulfilling one of its key election promises of providing jobs to at least one lakh youth in the State. On the day, 23,000 appointment letters will be distributed in three departments, namely Home, Health and Education.
This will cover nearly one-fourth of its intended target. Recruitments in other departments are already in various stages. The latest announcement comes even as Finance Minister Ajanta Neog had informed the Assam Assembly in her Budget speech that as on March 16, 2022, 1157 posts in the Government had been filled up after the new Government assumed office in Dispur. To expedite the process, the State Government had enacted the “Assam Direct Recruitment Commissions for Analogous Posts in Class III and Class IV Act 2021”.
The Government had also set up two recruitment commissions to ensure transparency to the process while giving it the required traction. Of the one lakh jobs promised by the Government, over 50 thousand jobs were already detailed for recruitment before the Budget was presented in the Assembly this year.
