Is it too much to chase one’s dream? I think each one of us has a dream and we end up going the distance to realise it. Although there will only be some who will achieve them, others will continue chasing them. That makes life worth living. It is a very nostalgic feeling to come across young faces with dreams in their eyes and smile on their faces. Just a couple of days ago, I received a phone call from a young girl. She was excited. “I have got through the TET,” she told me. Prior to that, another acquaintance met me and said that he has started a regime of sprinting in the morning after filling up the form for police recruitment. I could see a dream in his eyes. He continued, “These days it is not about money. One needs to work hard to get a job,” he sounded very confident to me.
I think the initiative by the present Government in Assam has brought hope and smiles on the faces of thousands of youths like the ones above. “How times have changed?” I thought to myself. In the times gone by, the very idea of a Government job, irrespective of your qualification, involved big money changing hands. Things have started getting better now. The hopes and aspirations of these young men and women are set to be fulfilled. We must appreciate the Government for what it has done and pray that it continues like this in the future as well.
